Lawrie & Symington Ltd held their Main Sale of 3,645 Lowland Breeding Sheep including the Annual Show & Sale of Scotch Mule Gimmers and Ewe Lambs.

The show was kindly sponsored by the Scotch Mule Association and ably judged by Mr Harry Griffies, Black Barn whose awards were as follows:

1st Messrs J & A Galloway, Lochlyoch – £245 to Messrs DWA & NJ Parrish, Hassendean Burn

2nd Messrs Stewart, Crookboat – £205 to RJ Fry, Porterstown

3rd Messrs CC MacArthur & Co, Nunnerie – £240 to Messrs Barrie, Howburn

The 1,414 Scotch Mule Gimmers saw the top end even dearer on last year's huge trade which was seen nowhere else but the commercial end would be similar trade.

The sale topped at £400 for Pure Texel Gimmers from Messrs CC MacArthur & Co, Nunnerie with a 1-Crop Scotch Mule Show Ewe from the renowned showman Mr J Guild, Laight making £370. Mule Gimmers were flying especially the best top end realizing £350 on three separate occasions. Firstly, from Mr J Paterson, East Dykes and twice from Messrs Stewart, Crookboat.

Also held today were two dispersals firstly on behalf of Mr W A Wilson, Hutlerburn (251 heads):
